Women, Trans, and Queer Night |
WTQ Night sponsored by Our Community Bikes
Twice a month OCB opens their doors after hours to women, trans and queer identifying people to use the shop and have specific opportunity to further their mechanic skills.
WTQ nights are staffed by women and gender variant mechanics. Our Community Bikes recognizes that bicycle shops and accessibility to mechanical knowledge is dominated by hetero cisgendered men. WTQ night hopes to make this knowledge more diffuse amongst marginalized communities through peer based education.

The Bike Kitchen Access Night: Gender Liberation Night |
Access Night: Gender Liberation Night hosted by The Bike Kitchen
Gender Liberation Night is a monthly Access Night for cis-women and trans and/or non-binary people of all genders to use the Bike Kitchen’s shop space and tools, supported by informal mentoring.
The purpose of the night is to offer a more welcoming, safer atmosphere in which people who are typically marginalized within the cycling community because of their gender identity and/or expression can work on their bikes, learn mechanics, and form connections. A staff mechanic and volunteer aligned with the night’s target demographic will be available to empower participants in performing their own repairs.
