Bike the Night
Following Provincial and Federal advice, we've made the decision that Bike the Night, in its traditional format, will be taking a hiatus in 2020.
We are currently investigating different event structures to continue the tradition of celebrating cycling.
Watch this space and our social channels for updates.
Check out the video and details below for highlights from 2019.

What if I don't have a bike?
Mobi by Shaw Go, will be offering free 24-hour bike share passes to all registered participants. To redeem this offer, please carefully read the instructions below:
- In order to ride with Mobi by Shaw Go, participants will need to create an account. You can do this by clicking 'Sign Up' on their website or by using the Mobi by Shaw Go app on your Apple or Android smartphone. This can be done in advance or on Saturday when purchasing your pass.
- The promo code is in your registration email or will be provided at the event if you register in person.
- When choosing a pass option make sure it is the 24 Hour Pass. The promo code for the 24 Hour Pass will only work on Saturday, September 7th. We will have a limited number of bikes at the event so you're encouraged to arrive with a Mobi by Shaw Go bike rented from one of the stations in the surrounding area. Once on-site, please visit the Mobi by Shaw Go booth and give them your account email so any overages you incur between 5 pm and 11 pm can be waived. They'll be easy to locate - just look for the blue tent.
- When you finish the ride, you are responsible for finding a dock to end your ride. Wait for the bike to display "Return OK" and listen for a single beep. If any riders do not end their ride properly, the timer will not stop and any overages you experience after 11 pm will not be refunded.

Tips for a safe ride
- No alcoholic beverages are to be consumed while riding or at event sites
- Leave no trace – dispose of your trash responsibly in the bins provided. We want to host this event again next year!
- Stay hydrated! Bring a refillable water bottle, we will have a water station on site for you to fill up and reduce waste!
- Control your speed and ride at a leisurely pace (this is not a race) and be prepared to slow down or stop for congestion, road hazards or to allow transit to cross through major arterials areas. Do not pass the lead marshals of the ride
- Please ensure your bike is equipped with at least one white front light and one red back light as well as a back red reflector
- Use hand signals to indicate that you are stopping or turning
- Move completely off the road or path if stopping for any reason
- Do not ride against the flow of people on bikes
- Maintain adequate distance between yourself and other people on bikes
- Keep at least one hand on the handlebars at all times
- Be prepared to stop at select intersections indicated by ride marshalls
- Have fun!
Be prepared in the unfortunate case of an incident on your bike, or when encountering a dangerous situation on a bike route. Use these resources to better understand what to do and how to protect yourself. All Bike the Night participants will receive in their ride packages a wallet card containing important and useful information sponsored by David Hay, K.C., of Richards Buell Sutton LLP.
