If you are looking for more affordable ways to shop, then consider shopping by bike. It is estimated that for every $100 spent at a local business, $63 remains in the community and by saving money on fuel and parking, you’ll have extra to spend at your favourite local shops.

To help people feel comfortable getting on their bikes to help their community thrive, HUB Cycling is challenging you to shop by bike this summer! HUB’s interactive Bike-to-Shop neighbourhood maps highlight safe cycling routes into participating neighbourhoods, local bike parking and repair shops, and showcase unique local businesses in each neighbourhood.

Throughout August, HUB Cycling will be hosting group rides in and around participating neighbouhoods to encourage community connection as people explore their local surroundings and unique businesses in the area. Ride into each neighbourhood to explore and uncover hidden gems and local landmarks to win prizes from partners, including Little Mountain Gallery, Vancouver Lookout, The Vegan Supply Store, Cirque du Soleil and more!

Whether it's a quick trip to the grocery store or a visit to a local boutique, shopping by bike allows you to take in your surroundings from a different viewpoint and discover unknown treasures just a bike ride away.
