Our thoughts on TransLink's Cycling Budget Changes

September 25, 2012

TransLink has drafted its Base Plan which outlines initiatives that it plans to deliver 2013 - 2015. It retracts on earlier plans to restore original funding (annual $6M) for cycling programs (now just annual $3M). While HUB understands that TransLink is facing significant funding issues, we believe that cycling needs to be a higher priority. Cycling should receive more funding in order to capture the many long-term benefits that it will produce for citizens around the region. Read HUB's perspective and recommendations here. We have sent this to the TransLink Board and Mayor's Council and are arranging meetings.

You can make an additional impact individually by emailing the TransLink board, the Mayors' Council and your own city councillors emphasizing the need for cycling facility maintenance, improvements and foresight.
