MEETING CALENDAR

2023 Successes

  • We've provided feedback to TransLink for the upcoming improvements of the Golden Ears bridge roundabouts at 113B Ave and Airport Way, and to the City of Pitt Meadows for the multi-use pathways and bike lanes on the Pitt Meadows side as part of the Onni development (Amazon warehouses).
  • We've provided feedback to the City of Maple Ridge for their new Off-street Parking and Loading bylaw to ensure that good (e-)bike parking and -charging are included.

Current Projects

What is the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Committee working on in 2024:

  • We're having meetings with councillors and city staff to push for more funding for cycling and trying to get our own high priority projects included in this year's budget.
  • We're also getting ready for our most popular (and super fun event for our volunteers!): the Cycle Recycle at the annual Earth Day celebration in Maple Ridge, where we give away a dozen or so refurbished bikes through a draw.
  • We're hoping to organize some group rides this year.
  • We're looking forward to the opportunity to provide feedback for the many cycling projects that will be happening in our area over the coming years, to help make cycling safer, more convenient and more comfortable for people of all ages and abilities.
  • We are participating in the "Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Active School Transportation Symposium" with Maple Ridge Climate HUB. This will bring stakeholders and experts together to look at how we can work together to get more Active School Transporation happening in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Maple Ridge Survey Results for 2023 Election

Party/Affiliation Candidate Will you, in principle support compact, mixed-use development with high quality active transportation infrastructure within the urban containment boundary?? Will you oppose low density, car-dependent suburban development proposals outside the urban containment boundary? Are you committed to working towards the transformation of our neighbourhoods into 15-minute neighbourhoods? In the coming decades, Maple Ridge's Town Centre and the Lougheed Transit Corridor will see significant densification. Do you agree that this gives us great opportunities to get people out of their cars?

Cycling Maps

The City of Maple Ridge, City of Pitt Meadows, and TransLink have created maps of the cycling networks in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to help all cyclists navigate safely and comfortably on their bikes. These maps are updated regularly to provide current information on cycling and show the comfort levels of each route based on how separated it is from traffic. PDF versions of the maps for Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are available at the links below. Cycling maps for other Metro Vancouver municipalities are available at bikehub.ca/maps.

Cycling 'Hot Spots' in Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows

As part of HUB's State of Cycling project, BikeMaps.org produced a series of maps highlighting conflict areas for cyclists across Metro Vancouver. See the map for 'hot spots' in Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows. Please note that these maps show conflicts, but don't account for ridership levels. You can log conflicts/crashes and near misses on BikeMaps.org. Help improve cycling infrastructure and close 'gaps' by getting involved with HUB's work in your area. See details above for the Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows Local Committee. Special thanks to BikeMaps.org for all their help and assistance in producing these maps.
