What did our politicians say?

On Council voting to remove AAA Bike Lanes from the Broadway Plan

It’s not going to be more practical to revisit this later. In fact, there will be more encumbrance because nobody’s going to want to rip up Broadway again… we really can have it all. We can have the trees… the patio… the sidewalks. And… the separated active transportation lanes.

— Councillor Pete Fry

… this is about climate action. It’s about healthy city. It’s good for business. We need a complete street, a safe street, AAA active transportation. If we build it, people will come

— Councillor Adriane Carr

On Park Board Removing Stanley Park Bike Lane

… I just want to bring forward that this was our mandate. Our campaign pledge was actually to remove the temporary bike lane…

— Commissioner Jas Virdi

I’ve heard from some of you that this is an ABC campaign pledge that we're implementing tonight. For the clear public record, this motion was not a campaign pledge of the ABC party in the recent municipal election

— Commissioner Tom Digby

Important! Call to Action

Please ask our City Council and Park Board to do better in the last two years of their term. Fire off even a short message noting their record so far and/or issues that are particularly important to you. Contact City Council and Park Board here. Please cc HUB Cycling at action@bikehub.ca. In addition, please get out & vote for a pro-cycling/active transportation candidate in the upcoming by-election on April 5th for Christine Boyle and Adriane Carr's vacated spots on Council.
