Beach Ave AAA bike lane is being utilized. It's successful. It's safe, it's fun
Meeting Date:
Parks Board Vote to block City Council decision to return two-way traffic to Beach Avenue
I would understand if that AAA bike lane right now was not being utilized, but it's not. It is being utilized. It's successful. I use it quite often. I know that Commissioner Bastyovanszky, he uses it quite often as well. It's safe, it's fun and it allows you to access the city so many different places.
an opportunity to provide greater access for the cycling community
Meeting Date:
Questioning to Staff Presenting the Stanley Park Mobility Study Update
knowing that it is something that was considered just a year ago, allows us to look at a potential solution that doesn't take place 5, 10, 15 years down the road, which really won't meet the needs of users that are currently looking for solutions. So certainly this is an opportunity for us to provide greater access for the cycling community in a more time effective manner.
That being said, this is a way for us to have this embedded into a report that's coming back to us later on. And again, in relationship to all the other options that are going to be there, it gives us an ability to potentially look at something that's a little bit more realistic current solution as opposed to something that's alongside the West End Waterfront Plan in its scope and its nature. So thank you for presenting.
important we think about the livability of our city as we look at addressing climate change
Meeting Date:
Climate Change and Restoration of Stanley Park Seawall after Storm Damage
We've seen that since the catastrophic damage that occurred in Vancouver. However, were we not to take action the Stanley Park seawall would not be constructed as it is now. Taking away the opportunities for individuals to circumvent Stanley Park by either bike or by walking or by other mobility manners and I think it's really important that we think about the livability of our city as we look at addressing climate change.
