Meet Laura Jane, HUB Cycling’s new Executive Director.
The HUB Cycling Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Executive Director, Laura Jane.
No stranger to HUB Cycling, Laura served as HUB's Director of Corporate Engagement and Events from 2013 to 2019, including time as Interim Executive Director. During that time, she launched several impactful projects and built strong partnerships across various sectors.
Laura spent the last four years leading active transportation programs for the City of Vancouver, including developing and implementing the City’s Transportation Demand Management Action Plan.
"Laura brings a wealth of experience, a passion for community building, and a strong commitment to increasing the use of active and healthy transportation. Laura's innovative mindset and talent for uniting diverse stakeholders will greatly benefit HUB Cycling’s work across the region." - Jeff Leigh, President, HUB Cycling Board of Directors
Laura can often be seen riding with her two young daughters on her cargo bike. Having regularly used her bike for transportation for over two decades, she understands firsthand the transformative power cycling can have on individuals, communities, and our environment.
“Cycling is core to healthy, sustainable, and equitable transportation,” says Laura Jane. “I’m thrilled to step into this role, building on HUB’s incredible momentum in advancing safe infrastructure, impactful policies, innovative programs, and dynamic partnerships. When we make cycling better — everyone wins.”
Laura was selected through an extensive and competitive search process, succeeding outgoing Executive Director Erin O’Melinn, who led the organization for nearly 15 years.
"I am thrilled to see that HUB Cycling will be in the capable hands of Laura Jane to continue to build upon the foundation we laid, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity and progress. I am confident she will lead HUB Cycling to new heights with her passion, creativity, and dedication." - Erin O’Melinn, Former Executive Director, HUB Cycling
The Board would also like to thank Rose Gardner for her leadership and support as the Interim Executive Director over the last two months.
Laura and the Board look forward to collaborating with our dedicated members, donors, and volunteers as we work together to promote cycling, advocate for safer and connected active transportation networks, and inspire positive change in our communities. If you are not already a HUB Cycling member, we encourage you to join HUB Cycling’s growing base of members at bikehub.ca/join.
Here’s to a great 2024 ahead for cycling in Metro Vancouver!
