Delta - Ladner, Tsawwassen, North Delta & TFN

The Delta/TFN HUB Local Committee is a volunteer group advocating for safer, more accessible cycling and active transportation in Delta, Ladner, Tsawwassen, North Delta, and Tsawwassen First Nation. We work with city staff and officials, provincial authorities and other community organizations to push for better infrastructure and to get more people biking and using active travel for often.

As one of HUB Cycling’s ten local committees, we're led by residents like you—no experience needed!

Join us for our next meeting to see how you can help improve cycling and active travel in Delta/TFN.

What do Local Committees Do?

HUB Local Committees are at the heart of HUB's advocacy efforts. Made up of people who live, work, bike, walk, and vote in their communities, committee members bring valuable lived experience to the table. They're in the best position to speak up and push for safety improvements where they matter most. Here are some of the things our committees do:

  • Writing letters to decision-makers
  • Providing feedback on future transportation projects
  • Meeting with politicians, planners, and engineers
  • Organizing rides to assess cycling conditions
  • Hosting community events and building local alliances
  • Local Committees are the backbone of HUB Cycling’s advocacy, and the work they do has already led to major improvements across the region.

Visit the Committee Wiki pages to see examples of past letters sent to decision makers, committee assessment bike ride infrastructure reports and past meeting minutes.

2025 Delta Committee Objectives

Objective One: Continued advocacy for Multi-Use Paths (MUP) on 44th Ave in Ladner, a big stretch of road.

Benefits:
Filling in this gap would help connect to a number of destinations. MUP in front of Ladner Elementary School and this improvement would connect elementary school making it more feasible for families to bike to school. MUP would also connect to a number of other services

Objective Two: Continue to advocate for cycling and active transportation friendly 56th Street shopping centre in addition to bike lanes on all of 56th Street

Benefits:
This development will set precedent for other developments. This will be a high density area in a few years for Delta/TWN and having it built in from the start of development will be cheaper in the long run. Developer is also building state of the art underground storage facility for bikes so setting precedent for end of trip facilities in the area.

Objective Three: Continue to advocate for a safer and better route to and within Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal

Benefits:
Safety for people using active transportation to access terminal. Increased tourism dollars when this route is a safe for people wanting to visit the island(s) via bike

Top Delta Committee Accomplishments for 2024

  • Delta approved the extension of the protected cycling lanes all the way to Deas Island
  • Committee is pleased with progress towards adding protected cycling lanes in North Delta (96th street)
  • Committee is pleased that Delta took Committees advice and built 2 culverts over ditches that were impeding cyclist access to both the Ladner West Dyke, and across 6th Ave
  • Approval anticipated of Multi Use Path between 6th Ave and 8th Ave on 56th Street
  • Positive decision expected towards planning for building cycling lanes on Elliot Street which runs through Ladner Village
