Bike Friendly Buildings Advises Kwantlen Polytechnic University on Strategic Bike Parking Plan

HUB Cycling's Bike Friendly Buildings team recently completed a strategic bike parking development plan for Kwantlen Polytechnic University's (KPU) Langley, Cloverdale, Surrey and Richmond campuses.

Current bike parking on the campuses was developed incrementally, and given growing interest in cycling, it is not providing sufficient capacity and security for current and anticipated future demand. The report, developed by the HUB Cycling Bike Friendly Building team working closely with KPU facilities and sustainability staff, provides information about high quality bike rack and enclosure options, and detailed recommendations regarding bike parking locations, quantities, types, security, as well as e-bike parking and charging. The report also includes recommended phasing of installations given factors such as current and planned bike routes, proximity to residential areas, and public transit development. KPU staff are now preparing to implement the recommendations, and the Bike Friendly Buildings team may play an ongoing role advising the process. Check out some snapshots from the plan below!
