Want to learn the basics of bike maintenance to avoid any mechanical issues on your ride. Check out these free workshops taking place during Go By Bike Week Fall, September 23-October 6, 2024.
The Bike Kitchen
Bike Basics
Registration required: by donation, no one turned away for lack of funds
Bike Basics is their most beginner level workshop. This is a great workshop to begin to learn how to maintain your bicycle and get to know the Bike Kitchen and the services they provide. Using demo bicycles, we will be covering a range of topics to assist you in preventative maintenance of your bicycle - knowing the basics will help you save costs in the long-run and have a more enjoyable and smooth ride.

Skills Night
During this time, beginners can join staff and board to learn about bike mechanics in a safe and welcoming environment, absolutely no experience is needed. The bikes you work on during Skills Night either get recycled, or re-used through one of our other programs, such as the Kids Bike Library, Bici Libre, or new upcoming programs.
Please note: You must wear closed toe shoes to work in the space.

Women, Trans and Queer Access Night
Women/Trans/Queer (WTQ) Access Nights are for folks in the LGBTQ2S+ community, cis-women, trans and/or non-binary folks of all genders to use our resources, shop space, and tools in an inclusive, relaxed environment with the support of WTQ mechanics and volunteers. Bring your own bike, come with questions and ask away, play games or just come hang out with other community members. Beginners are always welcome!

Kickstand
Women, Trans and Queer Access Night
We are excited to host these WTQ Access evenings for individuals who have not traditionally been a dominant part of the bike industry. The night will be facilitated by bike mechanics and volunteers who are also female, trans or gender variant. We strive to create a safer space where learning, positive vibes and fun happens! On these evenings, shop time is free. This means you will have access to all tools and experienced bike mechanics will be available to answer your questions and help you fix your bike!

Our Community Bikes
Women, Trans and Queer Access Night
This evening is open for women, trans, and queer people to work on their bikes while being supported by fellow community members who are trained in mechanics. Two staff members and additional volunteers are available to answer questions, help you purchase new or used parts, and provide hands-off guidance to repairs.

Do-It-Yourself Night ($20/hour)
Their stand rentals give you a community environment where the floor doesn't mind a bit of grease and the tools and parts are all ready and accessible.

Youth Bike Club Drop In
This is our free drop-in bicycle mechanics program aimed at getting more youth riding by removing barriers!
Come hang out with us on Tuesday afternoons at Our Community Bikes. We'll teach you how to break down busted bikes and build 'em up. Discover new routes and snack spots while exploring the city on bikes during our group rides. Plus your 10% discount turns into a membership with additional perks once you hit 20 hours of volunteering. Don't miss out!
