E-Cargo Road Safety Training Course
Are you using cargo bikes for your business?
The E-Cargo Bike Road Safety Training Course will train your staff riding cargo bikes (two-wheel or three-wheel types or cargo trailers) in essential skills for safe road cycling. Due to the differences from a standard bicycle, there are important considerations and skills when it comes to handling and care of cargo bikes, as well as some different rules and regulations for electric models. All of this will be explored within this five-hour course.
Trained HUB Instructors will lead your group through a discussion on cycling safety and an on-bike refresher skills session focused on delivery by cargo bike. This will be followed by an opportunity to use those skills on a road ride in the local community. While riding on the road, we maintain a 1:6 instructor-to-participant ratio to ensure optimum safety and plenty of instructor attention.
The E-Cargo Bike Road Safety Training Course includes:
- An interactive presentation to increase participants’ knowledge of the rules of the road, cycling and delivery etiquette, and tips for how to ride safely and dress comfortably for all weather conditions
- Basic bike fitting and safety checks
- An off-road skills session to practice shoulder checks, speed control, gearing and low-speed turns, emergency stops, and fine maneuvers
- A pre-planned Road Ride to practice riding tips and apply knowledge of rules of the road on actual streets and the cycling infrastructure that riders will encounter on the job. The ride is intended to be both an assessment of rider skills as well as a learning and discussion opportunity to further their knowledge in a real-world environment.
Price: $1000+ GST. A small indoor presentation area, as well as a bikeable area of at least 20x30 m must also be available for this course (HUB Cycling may be able to provide this at an additional fee.) All participating organizations must provide their own bikes.
