Vancouver's Largest Night Ride Celebration, Bike the Night, Returns After 5-Year Hiatus
After a five-year hiatus brought on by the pandemic, HUB Cycling’s popular and family-friendly event, Bike the Night is returning to Vancouver on Saturday, September 14, 2024!
Bike the Night is set to be Vancouver’s largest organized night bike ride in 2024. Hundreds of people are expected to join the bike ride along the iconic Vancouver Seawall and raise funds for HUB Cycling’s advocacy work.
Bike the Night will kick off with a pre-ride festival at David Lam Park featuring placemaking activations from community partners, including:
- live music,
- food trucks,
- games,
- bike decorating and tune-ups,
- an e-cargo bike showcase,
- prizes and more.
The easy 10-kilometer route will wind around the Seawall looping back around Charleston Park and ending back at David Lam Park. The ride will take place in two waves of 500 riders each with people of all ages and abilities expected to sign up for the ride. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes with lights on site and come in costume.
To participate in Bike the Night, participants can either purchase a ticket or fundraise to ride. Children 8 and under ride for free.
Get your tickets early at BikeTheNight.ca. Tickets include access to the ride, entry into the grand prize draw of a $500 DoorDash gift card and two tickets to Cirque du Soleil and entry to the pre-ride festival.
"The combination of music, costumes, bikes, glowing lights, and hundreds of other people creates a very unique community experience," says Communications & Fundraising Manager, Sadie Caron. "Many cities have been hosting mass bike ride events like this for decades because they're a lot of fun - and because they encourage people to get their bikes out of the garage or storage, and show people how to ride safely at night."
HUB Cycling’s post-event surveys show that people who participate in Bike the Night end up using their bikes more frequently after the event. After the event, 70% of participants also reported that they use lights while riding at night, a 9% increase from before the ride.
This event is predicted to sell out! Get your tickets before they’re gone and prices go up at BikeTheNight.ca.
