As a HUB Cycling member, you have a say in how we do things. Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) happens once a year, and this year, it takes place on Thursday, September 21.

 

Elect New HUB Cycling Board Members 

Before our Annual General Meeting, we invite you to register to vote via a virtual ballot for our new Board of Directors.  This year, we have twelve great candidates running for a position on our board. Read their bios here. Voting takes place between September 5th and September 20th (closes at 10 AM PST).

What to Expect at the AGM:

Hear from your current Board of Directors - an elected body that works on behalf of you and holds us accountable

Ask questions and give feedback on matters impacting the cycling community

Learn about the vision for the upcoming year and hear from our President of the Board, Jeff Leigh, and Executive Director, Erin O’Melinn

Hear about success stories from our 10 Local Committees

Listen to our guest speakers and join them for a Q and A after the presentation. This year, our guest speakers are Dr. Alex Choi, Medical Health Officer for Vancouver Coastal Health and the MHO for the North Shore, and Megan Oakey, Provincial Manager for Injury Prevention at the BC Centre for Disease Control and the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit.

GUEST SPEAKERS


Dr. Alex Choi


Dr. Alex Choi is a Medical Health Officer for Vancouver Coastal Health and the MHO for the North Shore. She is a dual-certified family physician, public health specialist physician and a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC. She holds a Medical Degree from McMaster University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from UBC and has served populations through public health work at the local, regional, and international levels.

Megan Oakey


Megan Oakey has been the Provincial Manager for Injury Prevention at the BC Centre for Disease Control and the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit since 2016. Megan provides leadership in British Columbia and currently chairs multiple committees, including the BC Provincial Public Health Injury Prevention Committee, the BC Injury Prevention Alliance, and the BC Falls and Injury Prevention Community of Practice. Through her work, Megan facilitates guidance and recommendations on injury prevention to the Ministry of Health and the Provincial Public Health Executive Committee. Megan holds an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a BHK in Exercise Science from the University of British Columbia.

As a member-based organization, HUB Cycling is accountable to its members and is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Before our Annual General Meeting, we invite you to register to vote via a virtual ballot for our new Board of Directors

This year, we have twelve great candidates running for a position on our board. Read their bios here. Voting takes place between September 5th and September 20th (closes at 10 AM PST). You must be a HUB Cycling member to vote and can become one today for only $10 at bikehub.ca/join. The newly elected board members will be announced at the AGM on September 21st.

The Vancouver/UBC Local Committee will also be hosting an in-person AGM viewing party and social at Creekside Community Centre. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. You must RSVP to attend the party here.
