Kudos to Norco Bikes!

March 31, 2020

This winter was an exciting time for HUB’s bike education program. The provincial government was supporting bike education to all B.C. elementary schools in a new pilot program called Everyone Rides Grades 4 & 5 (ERG45).  In April, we were set to begin delivering HUB’s Learn 2 Ride curriculum in 36 schools in Metro Vancouver, Victoria, and Kelowna. In addition to this, bike education in schools throughout Metro Vancouver was rapidly expanding, especially with the City of Richmond’s new commitment to fund universal cycling education for Grade 6 & 7’s, starting with 18 elementary schools in 2020.

All these new programs meant that we had to expand our bike fleet substantially. Norco Bikes, a local B.C. company,  supported HUB Cycling with heavily discounted bikes for our Bike to School fleets. Everything was looking good for our biggest bike ed season in our history and then…...COVID-19! All schools have been closed in B.C. indefinitely so bicycle education has been put on pause for the foreseeable future.

Norco Bikes, being the responsible, understanding and compassionate corporate citizen that they are, kindly allowed us to return the bikes we bought from them due to the school closures in BC. We are extremely grateful for Norco’s kindness and understanding to help HUB’s bike education program through this challenging time. We will definitely be using Norco as a supplier again once our bike ed programs get back on track. Thanks, NORCO!
