About HUB Cycling and Go by Bike Week (September 28 to October 7, 2022):
HUB Cycling is Metro Vancouver’s cycling organization that encourages people of all ages and abilities to cycle more often. Go by Bike Week is a week-long event that encourages people to cycle more often. Activators set up and run the Celebration Stations, high-energy pop-up stations across Metro Vancouver where the public can receive cycling resources, free snacks, and bike maintenance.
HUB Cycling is offering three different contracts for this position. Please indicate your preferences in your application.
Contract A overview - Event Runner and Event Activator Full-Week (1 position available):
- Dates: September 26 to October 10, 2022
- Compensation: $1,700
- September 26th to 30th, 30 hours: event preparation (on-site)
- September 28th, 5-7PM: 2-hour training shift (online)
- October 2nd, 2-5PM: 3-hour shift to pack supplies at 312 Main St, Vancouver (on-site)
- October 3rd (Monday) to October 7th (Friday): 6.5 hour shifts on each day between 5:45AM - 6:30PM (on-site). Final schedule will be shared after a candidate is hired.
- October 10th, 10AM-12PM: Return rental equipment
Contract B overview - Event Activator Full-Week (3 positions available):
- Dates: September 28 to October 7, 2022
- Compensation: $1,020
- September 28th, 5-7PM: 2-hour training shift (online)
- October 2nd, 2-5PM: 3-hour shift to pack supplies at 312 Main St, Vancouver (on-site)
- October 3rd (Monday) to October 7th (Friday): 6.5 hour shifts on each day between 5:45AM - 6:30PM (on-site). Final schedule will be shared after a candidate is hired.
Contract C overview - Event Activator Half-Week (2 positions available):
- Dates: September 28 to October 5, 2022
- Compensation: $660
- September 28th, 5-7PM: 2-hour training shift (online)
- October 2nd, 2-5PM: 3-hour shift to pack supplies at 312 Main St, Vancouver (on-site)
- October 3rd (Monday) to October 5th (Wednesday): 6.5 hour shifts on each day between 5:45AM - 6:30PM (on-site). Final schedule will be shared after a candidate is hired.
Must-haves:
- Class 5 driver's license and two years of driving history in BC
- Ability to lift 20 lbs
- Willingness to work rain or shine
- Excited to engage with the public! (prior customer service experience is preferred.)
Responsibilities - All contracts:
- Set-up and take down Celebration Stations
- Drive equipment to each site location (vehicle provided)
- Unload and set up the event tent, tables, and signage at each location
- Take down each station and load the equipment into the van.
- Engage the public at Celebration Stations
- Chat with members of the public about cycling and work with volunteers (training will be provided). You’ll be the face of HUB Cycling!
Responsibilities - Contract 1 (Pre-Event Runner and Event Activator Full-Week)
- All responsibilities listed in the above section
- Pick up and return rental equipment
- Assist with administrative pre-event tasks (i.e., prepare simple documents, printing, etc)
