HUB, TravelSmart to Highlight Cycling Safety For Winter Riders

February 6, 2014

Streetside Event to Promote Cyclist Visibility and Support Growing Numbers

Cycling is the fastest growing mode of transportation in Metro Vancouver, and in winter it's more important than ever to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride.

Thanks to our unique climate in Metro Vancouver, we are able to comfortably cycle year-round. However at the same time, we experience longer, darker nights compared to other cities and regions. To promote bike safety for those who ride during the dark winter months, TravelSmart and HUB have partnered together to provide cycling tips:

  • WHO:    TravelSmart and HUB: Your Cycling Connection
  • WHAT:  TravelSmart Winter Bike Light Giveaway
  • WHERE: West 1st Street & Mackay, North Vancouver
  • WHEN:   Tuesday, February 11, 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (evening rush hour)

TravelSmart will be handing out bicycle lights in North Vancouver while HUB will provide cycling-specific resources to help people plan their routes, find appropriate bikes and gear, get educated on the rules of the road, and raise their comfort level with riding for transportation.

TravelSmart asks Metro Vancouver residents to pledge to take one less car trip per week, and supports organizations like HUB who make those positive commuting choices easier.
