Tales of Bike Friendly Business
Bike Friendly Businesses are on the Rise!
An impressive total of 657 workplaces participated in the HUB Bike to Work Week last week, together reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50,000kg. Over 40 local bike shops, retailers, cafes and businesses pitched in to provide food, drink, bike tune ups, and other fun services to approximately 50 celebration stations, not to mention all the fabulous prizes and time they generously donated!
June is Bike Month! Let us know what we can do to support your business's efforts to become more bike friendly:
1. Workplace Cycling Workshops: a health promotion and sustainability program that fosters biking to work through on-site education and training for employees, these fun, interactive and on-site workshops are designed for staff of all riding abilities! They are hugely popular with any workplace that wants to boost its employees morale, productivity, health and wellness.
Here's what people are saying:
"The workshop had a clean and clear format, had just the right combination of traffic scenarios, route planning information and a good overview of bike maintenance. It was very well attended and created cycling safety awareness at our workplace." - Mike F, Burnaby
"Informative and fun, great to participate with co-workers over lunch. Thank you." - Anonymous, Vancouver
"The instructor did a great job presenting the materials and showed a range of options for cyclists gear." - Jennifer A, Richmond
2. Bikeability Assessments: HUB can assist you to become a more bike friendly business in one easy step - book us for a Bikeability Assessment. We will assess your building and/or workplace for its bikeability and provide you with concrete recommendations and resources for improvement. In addition, the assessment and a minimum entry of a bike rack at your workplace entitles you to entry into our Bike Friendly Business Awards competition.
