Board of Directors Candidates
2020 AGM | Candidate Profiles
The Board Development Committee (BDC) of the HUB Cycling Board of Directors has solicited applications for directors from across Metro Vancouver. The BDC developed a list of director skills required and held multiple orientation sessions for applicants.
The BDC has recommended a slate of director candidates, based on required skills, the likely time commitment over the two-year term, candidate diversity, and candidate experience.
The Board as a whole has voted to endorse this candidate slate. Candidates who are incumbents, those who have served a previous term as director or president, are so indicated.
President
DERIK WENMAN (Incumbent)
I have enjoyed serving the HUB Cycling board since 2015 as a board member first, then Treasurer and now as Board Chair. I look forward to helping to the organization move forward in these unprecedented times. We have many opportunities for growth in new areas and to reach out to new cyclists. Bicycling is an incredibly healthy practice, not just for individuals, but for our environment and our communities. HUB Cycling can play a major role in making positive changes in all these areas.

Jeff has a strong focus on cycling advocacy, and outside the HUB Board is the chair of the Vancouver UBC Local Committee. Jeff believes that cycling is a key part of our transportation mix, and that it can best be encouraged by the creation of infrastructure that allows cyclists to both be safe and to feel safe, and by celebrating our successes as we work to steadily increase cycling mode share.

She has an extensive background in policy and government relations, having worked at the BC Legislature in Victoria, for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities in Ottawa, and now for the City of Richmond. She is excited to advocate for cyclists of all abilities to have access to safe and efficient cycling infrastructure.
LUKE RAMSEY
We are new-ish to Vancouver having moved here 2 years ago after 12 years on the road. I have been lucky enough to live and work all around the world with my wife and 2 girls (5 and 8). Vancouver is our forever home as the girls call it. I work part time running a business consultancy and teach cycling. Leveraging the business acumen developed in running businesses in multiple countries around the world, along with my passionate about all modes of cycling I hope to help Bike Hub develop the metro into a world class cycling location – as appealing to the daily commuter, ebiker, Sunday rider and crit racer.
MICHAEL KOSKI
Mike Koski is a life-long bicycle commuter and cycling advocate. Recently retired from ICBC's Marketing/Advertising department leading provincial road safety campaigns, including Bike To Work Week, he believes in the benefits and inclusiveness of 'going by bike', and the need to educate and create a safe environment for our cycling community. Mike is an ex-Canadian team athletic, has competed for local bike race teams, and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and experience with HUB, and working for positive change. Mike lives in Vancouver with his family and is the father of 2 teen boys.
MICHAEL PATRICK
Cycling is one of my biggest passions and has been a part of my life from a young age, I believe anyone can enjoy and benefit from cycling on a regular basis. My goal at HUB is to advocate for those who already bike and to encourage those who are unsure about trying cycling to try a new mode of transportation that has many positive benefits be it health, environmental, economic, and personal. I want to ensure that cycling is seen as an open, safe, and accepting sport of anyone who wishes to saddle up and go for a ride!

WILL SKINNER
I have been a passionate and committed bike commuter in Vancouver for almost ten years. I am also an avid mountain biker, and generally love any time that I spend on pedals. In my professional life, I am legal counsel at the Health Employers' Association of BC. HEABC represents public sector health care employers in collective bargaining and labour disputes. Though I am predominantly a litigator, much of my role involves collaborative dispute resolution. I believe that my experience solving problems through collaboration, along with my legal perspective more generally, would be valuable assets to this organization.
