Volunteer Opportunity: Chair Positions Open for HUB Cycling Langley and Maple Ridge Committees

Are you passionate about making your community safer for vulnerable road users, including cyclists, pedestrians, and others who share our roads? Do you want to lead the charge in transforming your local cycling landscape and advocate for safer streets in Langley or Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows? 

HUB Cycling is currently seeking dedicated volunteers to take on the role of Chair and/or Co-Chair for both its Langley and Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows committees.

As the Co-Chair or Chair of either of these committees, you’ll play a vital role in driving positive change for people on bikes and other vulnerable road users in your community. You’ll be working alongside fellow passionate volunteers, collaborating with local decision-makers, and contributing to key discussions on how to make your community safer for everyone.

What Does the Role Entail?

This volunteer position is not only an opportunity to make a lasting impact, but also a chance to grow as a community leader and advocate. As the Co-Chair or Chair, you will:

  • Lead Discussions: Facilitate monthly committee meetings where local active travel issues, opportunities, and challenges are discussed. Your voice will help shape the direction of the committee’s efforts and ensure that the concerns of cyclists and vulnerable road users are heard.
  • Collaborate with Local Decision-Makers: Work closely with local government officials, city planners, and other stakeholders to advocate for improved cycling infrastructure, policies, and safety measures.
  • Advocate for Cycling Safety: Through your leadership, you’ll help push for initiatives that make cycling safer and more accessible. This might include organizing advocacy campaigns, participating in consultations, and promoting cycling-friendly policies at the local level.

Time Commitment & Term Length

The time commitment for this volunteer position is approximately 4-10 hours per month. This flexible time frame allows you to balance your responsibilities while still having a meaningful impact on the local cycling community.

Chairs are appointed for one-year terms, with the possibility of renewal after each term through Local Committee elections.
