Stanley Park Causeway Improvements Begin - Cycling Detours in Effect
This weekend, crews will move into the Stanley Park Causeway to begin construction work on pedestrian and cycling safety improvements, with road and sidewalk closures affecting northbound, east-side bike and walkway commuters through the end of November.
On Sunday, from 4am to 9am, all traffic will be detoured through the Park due to a full causeway closure.
- Regular construction is scheduled to begin on the east side on Monday, Sept. 14th at 9:30 pm and will primarily take place at night. The east bike and walkway will be open nightly with occasional, unscheduled 5-minute stoppages.
- During the weekday commuting hours of 6-9 am and 3-6:30 pm, there will be no bike or walkway stoppages.
- On weekdays between 9am and 3pm, the east bike and walkway may be closed.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be provided two northbound detour options - Pipeline Drive to Hanson Trail (gravel) and Pipeline Drive to Park Drive (paved) - and are encouraged to watch for detour signs. See the full detour route map here.
The east bike and walkway will remain open on weekends with occasional, unscheduled 5 minute stoppages.
Once the northbound phase is complete, the Ministry will begin upgrades to the southbound portion of the causeway.
