Moving Forward: Phase Two of Mayors' 10-Year Plan Going Ahead

On March 16th the Mayors' Council approved Phase Two of the Mayors' 10 year plan, the largest transit and transportation investment in Metro Vancouver's history. The Mayors’ Council and the Province of British Columbia have agreed on a plan to fund the regional share for Phase Two of the 10-Year Vision, a step forward towards historic investment in transit and transportation in Metro Vancouver.

Major Investments in the 2018 Investment Plan will include:
- Continued improvements to major roads, cycling, walking paths, and transit access points
- Surrey-Newton-Guildford Line of Surrey LRT
- Millennium Line Broadway Extension
- More rail cars and station upgrades on the existing SkyTrain system
- Additional expansion of bus service across the region
- Additional expansion of HandyDART service
The vision for Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation Plan includes funding for high-quality bikeways—2,700km of bikeways, including 300km of traffic-separated routes—to help make cycling a real transportation option for people of all ages and abilities. This vision also includes building better connections to transit through improved walking and waiting facilities at or near transit stops and stations.
