Do you love talking to people and want to help run an in-person event? HUB Cycling is hiring six independent contractors to be Go by Bike Week event Activators!
About HUB Cycling and Go by Bike Week (Oct 16 to Oct 29, 2023):
HUB Cycling is Metro Vancouver’s cycling organization that encourages people of all ages and abilities to cycle more often. Go by Bike Week is a week-long event that encourages people to cycle more often. Activators set up and run the Celebration Stations, high-energy pop-up stations across Metro Vancouver where the public can receive cycling resources, free snacks, and bike maintenance.
Contract Overview - Event Activator (6 persons needed):

Dates: Oct 11 - 21, 2023

Compensation: $1,215
-
Oct 11th, 5-7 PM: 2-hour training (online)

Oct 15th, 2-5 PM: 3 hours to pack supplies at 312 Main St, Vancouver (on-site)

Oct 16th (Monday) to Oct 20 (Friday): estimated 7 hours each day between 5:45 AM - 6:30 PM (on-site). The final schedule will be shared after a candidate is hired.
Must-haves:

Class 5 driver's license and two years of driving history in BC

Ability to lift 20 lbs

Willingness to work rain or shine

Excited to engage with the public! (prior customer service experience is preferred.)
Responsibilities:

Set-up and take down Celebration Stations
-
Drive equipment to each site location (vehicle provided)

Unload and set up the event tent, tables, and signage at each location

Take down each station and load the equipment into the van.

Engage the public at Celebration Stations
-
Chat with members of the public about cycling and work with volunteers (training will be provided). You’ll be the face of HUB Cycling!
