Job Posting: Bike the Night Event Activator (Contract: September 11-17, 2025)

Love talking to people and want to help run an in-person event? HUB Cycling is hiring an independent contractor to be a Bike the Night Event Activator!
About HUB Cycling and Bike the Night (Saturday, September 13, 2025):
HUB Cycling is a charity dedicated to making it easier for people of all ages and abilities to cycle more often. Bike the Night is a nighttime 10km group bike ride around the iconic Vancouver Seawall. 800 people gather at the pre-ride celebration at David Lam Park to enjoy live music, food trucks, free bike tune-ups, bike decorating, and more!
Contract Overview:
Dates: September 11 to 17, 2025
Compensation: $1,082
September 11-12: online and in-person training and event preparation
September 13: Estimated 11 hours 12pm-11pm for the event
September 16-17: Support post-event wrap-up
Must-haves:
- Ability to lift 20 Lbs
- Willingness to work rain or shine
- Excited to engage with the public! (prior customer service experience is preferred.)
- Class 5 driver's license and two years of driving history in BC.
Responsibilities:
- Help with event coordination leading up to the event
- Tracking inventory
- Organizing boxes
- Printing and laminating
- Driving to pick things up
- Following up with vendors
- Set up and take down Bike the Night
- Drive equipment to each site location (vehicle provided)
- Unload and set up the event tent, tables, and signage at each location
- Take down each station and load the equipment into the van.
- Engage the public at Bike the Night
- Chat with members of the public about cycling and work with volunteers (training will be provided).
- Help with post-event logistics
- Assist with following up with vendors and sponsors
- Drive to return items to supporters
- Post-event inventory
- Support with getting prizes organized
